Tallahassee, FL -
A new report says the best area for young people to find jobs in Florida is in the Capital City.
Eighteen-year-old Tyler Darling says he didn't have any luck finding a job in downtown Tallahassee. So, he went to the northeast side of town and applied at Coosh's on Thomasville Road.
He says, "I didn't know really what to expect. Everyone was extremely friendly. It felt like family. I love working here."
Darling apparently went to the right area.
New data from the U.S. Census says the ZIP code of 32312 is the best place for younger workers to find jobs in Florida.
High school senior Meaghan Maus works in the area and says she know a lot of people her age who've also gotten jobs.
She says, "I have friends that just got jobs at Chick-fil-A. I have a friend that works at Sprigg's, it's a boutique down the road. One of my best friends actually works at Celebration Baptist Church."
Employers in the area have their theory on why ZIP code 32312 is the best place for young people to find jobs.
The owner of Coosh's, Coosh Willis, says, "A lot of the businesses out here are locally owned; which means a lot of people out here we know the parents and a lot of the kids have grown up together. It makes it a lot easier. It is different on this side of town."
The census says the worst place for young people to find jobs is in the Jacksonville ZIP code of 32209.
It says the best place for workers with a college education was the 32205 ZIP code in Jacksonville, where there is a 1.3 percent unemployment rate for those with a bachelor's degree.
Data says the worst for college graduates was a ZIP code in Bonita Springs, along the southwest coast.
