Dori Carter has a great swing. One that turned her into a 4-time champ at Valdosta High and full ride to Ole Miss. She also won a national title with Team Georgia at the USGA Team Championships. Now, she's taking her game to the Futures Tour of the LPGA.
Carter says, "Obviously adjusting from college golf and the amateur side of golf to the professional is a challenge in itself."
She has to work on scheduling which tournaments she's going to play in, plus she's going to work on her fitness, and one other thing.
"Working on swing adjustments and gearing up for the 17 events that I'll be playing in over the next seven months."
A swing adjustment for someone whoe was just honored as GSGA Player of the Year?
"It requires a lot of patience and a lot of hard work and time, so to make a big swing change or adjustment is really just breaking old habits that you have. It takes time, but as long as you can practice with it, and take it out to the golf course and just play, then hopefully that move will stick with you the whole time while you're playing, and you'll be able to see improvements quickly."
She hopes to reap the rewards of her hard work as she swings onto the Futures Tour beginning in the middle of March.
