The sounds of football are in the air in Valdosta. The Blazers showed spring football some love by starting drills the day after Valentine's Day. In the past, VSU would have their spring break provide a break to spring drills.
VSU head football coach David Dean says, "I felt like we weren't accomplishing a lot. By the time we were getting our timing and then coming back, we were not able to get what I needed to get out of it. So, what I felt like what we need to do was try to do everything before our spring break. Then, that gives us an extra two weeks after spring break to really get into the weightroom and get a little bigger and a little stronger."
VSU junior quarterback Jimmy Coy adds, "I think it's a good thing to get it done before srping break. Allows us to install a lot fo the offense early. Hopefully, if some kid gets injured, hope that doesn't happen, but if it does happen, you get back on the field healthy earlier."
The Blazers will hold their first spring scrimmage this Sunday before playing their spring game on March 6, one week before spring break arrives.
