Tallahassee, FL - The Southeast Collegiate League wraps up league play in Tallahassee with a 3-day, 5-team double elimination tournament.
Thomasville Bombers' infielderAustin Taylor says, "It's kind of been up and down for us, but it's hard to believe that it's already coming to an end. Just want to finish up strong."
The North Florida Legends are the 1-seed after going 17-4 on the year, and they will have home-field advantage , but anything can happen.
Legends head coach Mike Troelstrup says, "There's a lot of good talent in this league and you can go back and the records might be a little deceiving because most of the games were close. So, there's a lot of talent, and I expect there's going to be a lot of close games."
Saint Augustine Saints head coach Roger Strecker adds, "Like any championship series, it will really come down to pitching. I think everybody is on a level playing field as far as position players and hitters. So, it will come down to depth of pitching."
Legends first baseman Thomas Troelstrup says, "We're playing really well lately. We've been hitting the ball hard. Pitching has been good with us all year, and defense is really coming around. I think now is a good time to be in the playoffs."
Of course the key to any double-elimination tournament is staying away from the loser's bracket which means winning game one is essential; however, players understand that they're all working on improving their skills, as well.
Bombers' head coach Bobby Rodriguez says, "They've enjoyed. They've made so many adjustments, too. So, we're hoping that this is a good benefit for them when they start the fall season."
But before we can talk about fall ball, four must fall, so a champion can be crowned on Sunday.
