Mark Herzlich looks like your average 6'4", 244 pound linebacker.
While the Boston College Eagle has tackled plenty of opponents on the field, his greatest match up came in 2009 when he confronted cancer head on.

"People helped me throughout the way and whether it's luck, blessings from God, whatever, I'm very lucky to be here," said Herzlich.

He was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer.

The 21-year-old ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2008, took a season off in 2009 to undergo six hours of chemo a day, while still a full time student.

But he came back for his senior season, cancer free.

"It is unbelievable just the fight, the drive that the guy had is unreal and I'm sure it was a tough time for him but he never showed it once," said former FSU quarterback Christian Ponder.

He had the support of trainers at IMG as well as Cassidy Phillips at Trigger Point Performance Therapy, both of whom have helped Herzlich get ready for April's NFL Draft.

"It's just something to keep your muscles going and your body is your job right now so you have to keep it healthy," said Herzlich.

Whether it's thanks to a higher power, will power, or a product, the NFL prospect has become an inspiration.

"A lot of people say can you tell your story. It's funny because it's a story to them but it's my life. And I do enjoy sharing it. If I can do that and help people going through cancer right now, that's great," said Herzlich
