The Thomasville Chamber of Commerce held its annual Economic Forecast Breakfast, featuring University of Georgia economist Jeffrey Humphreys, who gave his 2011 predictions for Georgia.

Humphreys says despite the state being on its way out of the 'Great Recession', people are still hesitant because work is hard to find.

Explains Humphreys, "Even though we've had a recovery in terms of output or GDP, we have not had a recovery in terms of jobs. Georgia lost 350,000 jobs -- we have replaced very, very few of those so far -- and even at the end of this year, we will have only added about 40,000 jobs."

Humphreys says he expects certain industries to slowly start hiring again, including companies in the manufacturing and professional service fields.
