Ground was broke today (3-24-12) at the site of a new army reserve center.
The reserve center will be built off of Jackson Bluff Road. It will house and train members of the Army Corps of
Engineers. It's a move the army hopes will boost the local economy.
"We are going to have seven, maybe up to 10 full-time positions here, some soldiers and a couple of civilians. That's new jobs for the community. And the soldiers that will come here and drill weekend and every other weekend or so, there's going to be about 100 of them initially and that's more business to the community," says Col. Patrick Briay of the U.S. Army.
The project will cost about $9 million dollars. It is slated to be finished in the spring of 2013.
