A community group that advocates for children is adding their stamp of approval to child-friendly businesses.
Whole Child Leon gave their first award to The Red Elephant Pizza and Grill restaurant.
They say the restaurant's safe child and family-oriented environment was the reason.
That includes saran wrapping chairs and providing fun games.
The Red Elephant also does a neat artist of the month prize for kids.
"We pick a random winner every month and we contact them at the end of the month and that child receives a $50 gift certificate," said John Schrowang, president of the restaurant.
"They get to bring mom and dad in for dinner and treat mom and dad instead of mom and dad always treating them."
Whole Child Leon hopes to recognize more local restaurants for catering to families.

Red Elephant is a great family-friendly restaurant! JT, I agree...saran wrap is for cleanliness, and they definitely have top-notch management. They also give a cup of cheerios to the littlest ones not ready for adult food. As for the "old fogeys", I'm pretty sure you were once kids yourselves, so quit complaining! :)
That place has not turned into a playground. It is probably the best run restaurant in Tallahassee. For the Saran wrap comment its called Cleanliness!! After the chair is used it is sanitized and wrapped in saran wrap then removed for the next child to use. This Restaurant has been voted for and recieved several awards over the last 6 years. The management team at The Mid town & Kerry Forrest Location are the best in the business. Lets applaud what they do for the Kids and Community!
I realize that old fogeys get bent out of shape that kids are in restaurants making noises and disturbing their feeding time, but saran wrap on chairs? It appears that instead of teaching our children we are conforming to their vices. Again, saran wrap on chairs???? Thanks for letting me know this place has turned into a playground. I love red elephant pizza too. I'll just have to get it to go I guess.
