Every now and then someone comes across a product that's too good to be true. One Tallahassee man believes he's created that product.
You won't find it in any stores just yet, but in time, we could say we knew him when.
Remember the name Karunya Kandimalla. He's going to be a household name one day. At least his products will. The Associate Professor at FAMU has created a Biotech Company called DiscovRx where he is researching and redesigning all-natural oils and skin creams for babies and children.
"We want to give the consumer a product that's going to be intact with what they paid for, that's not an easy task," said Kandimalla.
Kandimalla uses all natural products in his research. And at this point, that's all he's doing is research. Selling the cream will come in time, but he wants to make sure that he's putting out a one of a kind product and not just fast tracking a profit.
"We want to spend a lot of time on R&D. Marketing will come naturally. We are in business for making profit, still there's some responsibility."
DiscovRx was given a little seed money and a 15-thousand dollar grant. The space they rent at Innovation Park is cheap, but the machines are costly. Karyuna and his partners use their own money to fund their research in hopes that one day, their assortment of all-natural creams will be on store shelves across the nation.
