Florida Department of Children and Families Release: Statewide EBT system back online, transactions being processed

Tallahassee, FL - The state's Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card system, run by JPMorgan Chase, is currently active and processing transactions after a national outage of JPMorgan services left clients of federal assistance in Florida and several other states unable to use their cards to purchase items.

Earlier today, due to national technology issues at JPMorgan Chase, EBT card holders were not able to use their cards for normal processing at grocery, convenience and other stores that accept EBT cards.

EBT cards are used by recipients of cash and food assistance for purchases in approved stores. With the system down, stores can choose to run a manual processing of up to $40. Wal-Mart stores have the ability to process manual transactions of up to $100.

The outage began this morning around 7 a.m. and lasted until about 1 p.m. For updates on this issue, please follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/myflfamilies or Facebook at www.facebook.com/myflfamilies.
