Over 460 registrants are attending the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce Annual Community Conference at Amelia Island.

According to Chamber President and CEO Sue Dick, there are over 460 registrants. Including families, some 750 people made the roughly three hour trek from Tallahassee for the conference.

Saturday is the primary day for work at the conference. Included in the lineup is a visit from U.S. Senator Bill Nelson, comments from representatives of businesses either newly opened or opening in Tallahassee and several other sessions to discuss advancement of the community.

Changes may be coming to the U.S. tax code. Florida Senator Bill Nelson says there's an effort to address loopholes in the tax code.

He says tax breaks he helped pass as a congressman in the 1980s during the Reagan Administration worth $2-billion then are now worth $14-billion now. However Nelson says governing has become more difficult due to deeply polarized politics.

"We can't govern this way," said Nelson. "You have to respect the other guy's opinion," he said.
