facebook transplant
TAMPA, Fla. -- June 17, 2012
A connection on Facebook led to a life-saving kidney transplant for a Tampa woman.
The Tampa Bay Times reports 21-year-old Hannah Craig needed a new kidney. Twenty-eight-year-old Hillary Glanzer learned about Craig's medical condition on Facebook.
Glanzer is a friend of one of Craig's cousins. The two had known each other as children but lost touch through the years.
When Glanzer learned Craig needed a transplant she didn't hesitate to offer her kidney.
The transplant was performed Monday at Tampa General Hospital. Both women are recovering.
Without a donor Craig would have likely had to wait years for a transplant.
