Not really the same. What if pilots in the squadron were breaking policy and instead of calling everyone together to deal with the situation(the entire ship not just the squadron) they (Squadron leader, and Captain) did nothing sending a signal to all the pilots that it isn't a big deal to break policy. Now one of the pilots breaks the same policy(because others are allowed to do it), but he gets killed because of it. Is there enough responsibility for the Squadron leader and the Captain to be relieved of duty?

It's not about stopping the hazing,it is about the lack of concern by the administration. FAMU(or any other school) will always have hazing. If the administration had been more concerned with this prior to this incident, there may have been an entirely different outcome. The administration know it was happening and according to Dr. White, did nothing.

Let's See... Accounting mess, so bad that it is one millimeter away from fraud, young man killed by band members, band members not even enrolled and drawing per diem for road trips. Yeah, I'd call that prejudice.

There is much more to this that the simple act of hazing that led to murder. The Ammons administration had prior knowledge of hazing, and yet did not do enough to put it to an end. It may have been appropriate to suspend the band BEFORE Champions death. The issue now is what did(or didn't) FAMU do, and why? This goes all the way up to the top.

In defense of President Ammons, people have to quit calling for his firing when something stupid happens at FAMU. Those 'stupids' are a daily occurrence and are different each time. The band, however, should be on indefinite suspension.

You know, after moving away from Tallahassee and recently returning to our fine city, I see that the undercurrent of PREJUDICE and HATRED, in ALL of our wonderful citizens, is just as strong as it was 20 years ago...(sigh)

I agree. Stopping hazing on this level is certainly a moral issue. Thus expecting it to ever stop at FAMU is unrealistic. As for FSU, gosh FSU's hazings haven't murdered anyone. I think there is a teeny bit of difference with this trivial fact taken into consideration.

Serious: Words can kill. Words can change the world. With enough public pressure, FAMU's administration will change. Why do you assume writers are FSU fans? That's illogical. You just don't like it because the dirty shoe is on YOUR foot and has been since Obama because president. We will march for Robert Champion's justice if we have to. Marches seem to work in this country, that is, after many good speeches, oh yeah, words that lead to ACTION>

I have said all along that he needs to be fired. So, EVERYONE is not holding him blameless.

Why? If you're going to make a statement like this. please follow it up with some logic.

Actually, the prison will already be HALF full, most of the "students" there are thugs & thuggettes on the gobmint dole. Letting them stay will just avoid the inevitable!

It's just as simple as that. A murder occurred because the hazing got out of hand. The entire leadership of the band has some responsibility in this(allowing hazing to continue) as well as every band member.

VERY WELL SAID... BUT THOSE DAYS ARE COMING TO AN END.
EVERYBODY NEEDS TO JUST START BEHAVING LIKE HUMAN BEINGS, BLACK AND WHITE AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.
AND FAMU GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER BEFORE THEY DO CLOSE YOU DOWN AND GIVE IT TO FSU.
