Thomasville Still Trying to Recover from Flooding

Thomasville, GA -- June 13, 2012 --

Dumpsters line the road and furniture is scattered across front lawns. The city of Thomasville continues to clean up after flash flooding caused serious damage.

"I've never seen anything like this right here," said Jimmy Parker, owner of Pro Cleaning Company. "I've never seen this much water in a place like this."

Parker has been working overtime helping flood victims restore their homes. The problem, however, is not everyone can afford these services.

"The people across the street, they don't have the extra money to do it and they have water all up under the house and in their duct work," Parker said.

The Lasseter's home was hit hard and despite having to gut the entire thing, they still remain positive.

"Because of the outpouring of love in this community and our church friends and neighbors, we don't feel like we've lost everything because we still got each other," said homeowner Jeanette Lasseter.

Merrell Lasseter added, "It's just stuff that can be replaced."

Downtown restaurants are also pitching in. On June 15, 2012 a percentage of sales will be donated to the Red Cross.

"It's our community, we want to give back; give back to them what they've given to us," said Victoria Herold, a server at Liam's Restaurant . "It's our neighbors; it's our friends."
