Police Chase in Jackson County Ends with Man Injuring Self

Marianna, Florida -June 26,2012

On June 26, 2012 at approximately 11:15 am, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a request for assistance from Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. Calhoun County advised they were in pursuit of a small black Pontiac, occupied by a white male who they believed to be armed. The suspect was alleged to have been involved in a domestic dispute from earlier in the day. The pursuit came to an end when the suspect stopped his vehicle in the middle of Boneyard Road, located in the southeast part of Jackson County, Florida. Before officers could reach the vehicle the suspect fired a single round striking himself in the facial area. The suspect identified as Randall Pitts was transported via air ambulance to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
