The only flaw with SYG is that gang members have been able to use it to justify gang violence.
SYG has no flaws. What is your complaint? SYG doesn't appear to even apply to this case? SYG has been in place much longer than Governor Scott. Get your facts straight and leave SYG alone. Nothing wrong with it. It is written exactly the way it should.
How strange that Smith has mostly democrats on his task force. You all may have mud on your face before it's over. I hope the mud is the color of orange so it will stand out.
There is absolutely no need to visit the SYG law. From the broad 'facts' that have been made public Zimmerman wasn't even using SYG. He was defending himself under the law that has been in place for decades. I wish lawmakers would step to the plate this quickly when we need them. Leave this law alone! Stop wasting our money.

This is the most asinine thing to do, guns DO NOT kill people the person on the end of the gun does, you DO NOT need to reexamine the Stand your Ground Law, maybe you should have more classes teach people about Stand your Ground...I am sorry to say but if I have to I will Stand my Ground. Why all of the sudden after THIS one death do you want to do something others have died before him and will die after him and it has nothing to do with the STAND YOUR GROUND LAW....in todays society you cannot be in a position to not be protected and that is definitely showing with what we have in office. I am so sick and tired of everyone blaming Black and White/Men and Woman/Teen and Adult/Drug Dealer or Not....Get over it. Leave our Gun Laws alone go home and do some real work !!!!!!

I saw Senator Smith on CNN and he referenced a gang member shooting in the streets of Tallahassee that used Stand Your Ground Law for acquittal. I hope he uses other references in the future instead of using Tall. as his main example of his problem with the law.
Senator Smith is part of a problem, not a solution. Any case of stand your ground law needs to be investigated and reviewed to determine guilt or a true act of self defense BEFORE any action is taken. Too many in an uproar over this issue when it's too in our face, if this were a race on race crime you would not see marches, trademarks or any of the like until justice was served by due process in a court of law. Those in our legislative system continue to be reactive opposed to proactive concerning making laws for this state and that's where there the TRUE problems/issues concerning this tragedy began.

The SYG law is fine whether it applies here (Zimmerman/Martin) or not.
