This story is not about anybody that is running for Superintendent. A lot of changes are needed in the Gadsden County School District and from my point of view neither candidate needs to RUN for the position. We need someone that is going to go the extra mile to make sure thet all students are getting the best education and tools to help them succeed.

Congrats Mrs.Nelloms you deserve it. No matter if she is a math coach or not she is still a wonderful teacher that teaches groups of children on a daily basis. Keep up the great work. To all the haters keep the negative comments to yourself.

What in the world does this have to do with election year?

It is such a shame that this teacher can't even enjoy her awesome accomplishment. This is typical Crabs in a bucket mentality that is so Gadsden County! It is obvious that the people commenting haven't a clue about the standards students are held to. This is not your grandmother's math. Coaches guide teachers as well as assist struggling students. Congratulations to a well qualified candidate!

I certainly hope all of you get out and vote. In no other district would the final decision for TOY be left up to the Superintendent. Wake up Gadsden voters. It is an election year and deals will be made any kind of way for a vote. Remember Super, those who sin with you; will also sin against you. Watch and See!

An example of "Ironic" could certainly be that of those posting earlier, lambasting (look it up) the ills of GCPS staff for their teaching skills, while the writers themselves display horrific english usage. Pot calling the kettle black, anyone?

Wow, while I am sure the winner is considered to be great at what she does, it is shocking the county is saying the best that they have has been in their school system for under 2 years, works at a "C" school that is not ranked in the state of Florida, and is a coach NOT a teacher dealing with the day to day struggle of the classroom. Is she more deserving than those teaching at schools that increased 2 letter grades, or who is consistently an "A", teaches an FCAT grade at a school ranked in the top 25 in the state? Really? No, it is not haters. It is smart people realizing when the "ballot box" has been stuffed. Committee or not we all know who makes the final call. The fact that there is any concern over the fairness of the process is noteworthy. I hope the voters of Gadsden County are taking notes. Get out and Vote!

Oh... WOW! Super gonna fire candidate, his wife and anybody who put a sticker on their car, or have sign in their yard. Gonna get hot in Gadsden!

Just watch for the fall out. The candidate for Supt will be fired in June? Then the law suit will follow. My husband ran for Supt and got fired. Others got deals and promotions and cover ups.

What people are saying, is there were some great finalist for this award and one of them just happen to be the wife of the candidate for superintendent of schools and the other just happen to be a teacher at his school.

Not ,,,,,I would not teach in Gadsden for any amount of money these days ,,,I retired years ago when students did not need coaches .....also yes there are way to many teachers in Gadsden ,,some that should not be teachers, because they can not even ...never mime

my wife should have won. she isaway better teacher than her.

Does the title really matter??? She is a teacher and a great one that is all that matter.
Posted by: Anonymous on Feb 27, 2012 at 07:20 PM

All students do not learn like you were taught back then or when. Maybe you should try tutoring some students in Math and see how for you get. And Math and Reading coaches are still teachers.

You sound like a HATER or some who did not win. She has been teaching for over eight years and it does not matter about how many teachers are in that county. The teachers at her school voted for her and then she was interview by a team that selected her. Maybe you should try doing an awsome job in a classroom and pray you are selected.
