FSUPD Investigate Shot Fired Near FSU Main Campus

Tallahassee, FL -- June 2, 2012

On June 2, 2012 at about 2:30am, FSU Police Officers were in the area of the 500 Block of College Avenue as patrons left a nightclub. Several altercations were observed and as officers worked to disburse the crowd of about 200 people, officers heard a gun shot. As people quickly left the area, officers found a vehicle with window damage and a female near the car advising she thought she had been shot near her knee. Further investigation revealed that the female was not shot, but may have cut her knee in the ensuing activity following the shot, or from the glass/debris that was broken from the bullet. Police have not established if the shooter was aiming for a particular person or if the weapon was discharged while being recklessly brandished.

Witnesses at the scene described the shooter as follows:

Suspect Description -

Male, black, wearing a white tshirt, blue jeans, unknown height and weight, white tennis shoes, and possibly a "skull cap" covering his head. The suspect was armed with an unknown type pistol, but possibly a revolver. The suspect was described as having immediately fled east, away from campus property after the shot was fired.

The FSU Police Department is actively investigating this case and is seeking information from the public who may have additional information regarding events leading up to, during, and after the shooting. There were a number of people in the area and it is very possible that more witnesses have information or may even know the identity of the shooter.
