Midway Police Department Holds Dedication Ceremony
Midway, FL -- May 4, 2012 --
The Midway Police Department shut down back in July of 2011. When City Manager Auburn Ford took office back in October, he made it his mission to put the Midway Police Department back together.
"It was very important to make this a priority one of mine and this council to make sure that we had a top notch law enforcement agency," said Ford.
Seventeen members strong, the department has been operating since October. Friday was the official dedication ceremony.
City officials say they are proud of the success they are seeing so far. The department just received three new patrol cars.
"We're getting equipment monthly, and uh, this police department is up full force, and running," said Captain Tom Murray.
"I think they have made great strides in the progress they have made. I've been getting a lot of positive feedback from our police department. They are very, what the chief has done is very impressive," said Ford.
The ceremony ended with an official badge pinning. Then it was back to work.
