No Grannie he has worked harder than anyone of the others.

If he were not a member of the school, the board would have never considered his case and there would be no story here. He finished his school as a student via online classes. This is very common and you have to be enrolled in the school to participate.

She took him out of the building, not out of the school. He will get a diploma from the school, he just can't walk in the ceremony.

Thank you Dee. Not enough information!

Again..he did not attend school in the building for the past 14 months. That does not mean that he was not an enrolled student.

Just another case that goes to show: Being reasonably intelligent is not a requirement to being on a school board.

HE IS ALLOWED TO GRADUATE AND PARTICPATE IN ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL SOCIAL AND OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS FOOTBALL BASEBALL TRACK CHOIR EVEN THOU HE WAS HOME SCHOOLED FOR THE LAST YEAR IN THAT SCHOOL DISTRICT PLUS THAT IS STATE LAW IN FLA, READ IT SOME TIME,,,

You may be right, but the article said "alternative education" which may not be quite the same. I had a child enrolled through our county school to participate as a student of his school, via online classes. It is a state program. If this child were under the same program, than he is a student of the school, he just hasn't attended the school physically for 14 months. I just do not think we are getting enough information on this story. I cannot judge, either way, if this is a good or bad thing.

Where is the bullying law at in this case. He suffers from a disease and he is being singled out, by not only his peers but the teachers and staff of the school board. He cant help he suffers, he didnt ask for this to be the way it is in his life, so step aside and let him live his life as a person no matter the case. Someone needs to stand up for him among his classmates instead of trying to hold him down, they should see him as an inspiration and not an embarrasment.

Rob, thank you!!! People, he was not a member of the school. Get over the side attraction and look at the facts. He left this school 14 months ago. He was not a member of the school any longer. You don't get to walk at a school you are not a member off. What is so hard to understand???
Posted by: anon on May 25, 2012 at 01:52 PM

it was because of 1. his past behaviors 2. he was not a member of that school for the past 14 months.
Posted by: anon on May 25, 2012 at 01:51 PM

exactly
Posted by: anon on May 25, 2012 at 01:50 PM

He was not allowed to walk because he was not enrolled at the school. Simple
Posted by: anon on May 25, 2012 at 01:49 PM

they said he was not enrolled at the school for the past 14 months, that is the main reason he shouldn't walk. He was not a member of that school any longer. You walk with your graduating class, at the school you attend. If you homeschool then you walk with homeschoolers if you choose but you don't walk at a school of which you are not a member. (in Florida there is a statewide homeschool graduation but don't know about Georgia)

As the father of a son diagnosed with Aspergers, we ran into a related type of situation in middle school. As Aspergers is a form of autism, FSU has a department that works only with these type of cases. FSU WILL PROVIDE ATTORNEYS, SUPPORT & RESULTS. Oh yea, mine walked like everyone else. This decision is also a direct violation of the American Disabilities Act. PLEASE contact FSU and get them involved. Good Luck!
