The vow....l"I, ______, take you, ______, for my lawful wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part." means nothing anymore. Parents pay the penance for not training their children on the importance of chastity before and fidelity after their marital vows!

What if they were married. what suggestion would you have then. I'm sure inquring mines want to know what you think.

The article is about Grandparents raising their Grandkids, that is childcare. The situation is different but the same.

Better welfare than breaking into your home. (then going to jail/prison and we still will be taking care of them.)

Right off the bat "stepmother" jumped at me. Were the parents ever married? I know, people get divorced. But so many of these "single mothers" were NEVER married, to ANY of their kids' father. This is what is destroying America - the breakdown of the traditional family - and yes, the welfare system discourages marriage. The traditional family, mom, dad, THEIR kids, is the foundation of a stable culture. There's a 75% illegitimate birth rate in the black community. Anyone should be able to see that this is not good for ANYONE - moms, kids, society.

What you say is NOT true. If these women (girls usually) do not receive additional money for each child they pop out, guaranteed the illegitimate birth rate will plummet. It is perhaps a culture that you are unfamiliar with, but in certain circles if you do not have at least a couple of kids (each with a different "father") by the time you're 21, people will start asking "what's wrong with you?" I know, messed up, but that's the way it is.

Helping out with childcare is one thing. Having CUSTODY of your grandchildren because their parents can't or won't take care of them is what this article is about. Very different situations.

Ending welfare isn't going to stop people from making babies. If anything, there will be an increase of children in the system because their parents can't take care of them. Is that a better alternative? Not for the children.

You should have to get a license to have a child. End of story. There are just too many stupid people having children.

Plenty of Blame to go around, what we really need is person accountability and far less excuses for our behavior. What we tolerate today will be embrassed by the next generation.
