Georgia Softball Ranked 10th in Final 2012 Polls

Athens, GA -- The University of Georgia softball team finished the 2012 season ranked 10thin both the NFCA and ESPN/USA Softball year-end polls. The Bulldogs finished the year with a 45-17 overall record that included a 17-11 mark in Southeastern Conference play and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the 11th time in program history. Georgia finished the year with a 13-11 record against ranked teams, including a 6-9 mark against teams ranked in the top 10.

In its 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, Georgia was awarded the 10th overall national seed. The Bulldogs swept the NCAA Athens Regional field, marking the sixth time that the team has claimed a regional title.

Georgia fought back from a 3-2 loss in the first game of the Knoxville Super Regional to take game two 1-0 and forcing a decisive third game. The Bulldogs ultimately fell 2-1 to the Lady Vols in the program’s sixth Super Regional Appearance.
