The Florida State baseball team continues play in the college world series tonight in Omaha. The Seminoles will play UCLA in an elimination game.
Game three for the Seminoles begins tonight at 8pm. Florida State will take on their third team from the Pac-12 in this post-season, the UCLA Bruins.
After losing the first game, FSU avoided elimination with a win over Stony Brook Sunday night.. The Bruins lost to Arizona to be placed into the losers bracket. Even though the Bruins lost to Arizona, they come into tonight's game playing extremely well. They have won 20 of their last 23 games and have outscored opponents 42-14. FSU was able to eliminate mistakes in its win over Stony Brook and that's the same type of effort it will take to move on to Thursday night's game.
"They've beat a lot of very good clubs. Their record is extremely impressive. You know that they're a team that you have to play well. You can not make mistakes and expect to be successful," FSU Baseball Head Coach Mike Martin said.
Scott Sitz will make the start for Florida State. The junior will be well-rested as he has not pitched since the first game of the Tallahassee Regional against UAB two weeks ago. Speaking with Pitching Coach Mike Bell yesterday, he's very confident that the long lay off will not effect Sitz, as he was going to be the game three starter against Stanford in the Super Regionals if it came down to it.
