TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 16, 2012) – Tallahassee Community College’s Megan Oster has been named the inaugural Panhandle Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The award was voted on by the league’s five head coaches.
Oster, a sophomore from Clermont, Fla., was a two-year starter at second base for Coach Patti Townsend’s Eagles. In 93 career games, she batted .300 with four home runs and 28 RBI while earning honorable mention All-Panhandle Conference recognition in both 2011 and 2012.
Academically, Oster graduated with honors on April 27 after earning either President’s List or Dean’s List recognition in each semester.
As a freshman, she was named All-Academic by both the Panhandle Conference and the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA).
Earlier in the spring, she was named TCC Athletics’ Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was a finalist for the FCSAA’s Jean Williams Scholar-Athlete Award, given annually to the top softball scholar-athlete in Florida.
Oster has signed an NCAA letter of intent with Morehead State University, where she will major in accounting.
As the PC’s top softball scholar-athlete, Oster will be a nominee for the Mickey Englett/Panhandle Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, to be announced at the Panhandle Conference’s Spring Meeting on June 7.
