TAMPA, Fla. (AP) _ A 20-year-old baby sitter is charged with aggravated child abuse after Tampa police say she submerged a baby's feet in boiling water, causing second-degree burns.
Authorities say Maggie Nicole Williams was arrested Wednesday, one day after her mother called 911 to report that the boy they were baby-sitting had been severely burned while getting a bath.
The child is still in the hospital.
Police say Williams boiled a pot of water and poured it into a metal bucket, then intentionally immersed the child in the water.
Her mother, Ruth Williams, calls it an accident. Maggie Williams is in jail with bail set at $25,000.
