MCallen, TX--- The students built a big and colorful thank you, an American flag, but not just any flag.

The entire student body at mcallen's brown middle school formed a human flag.

It was a "salute" and "thank you" message that could be seen from the air.

School officials said it was a special tribute to past, present and future service members.

They practiced for two days but when the day came to make their masterpiece everything went smoothly.

It only took about thirty minutes to form the flag.
