SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) - Sarasota authorities say the elderly woman found dead in a trash can had suffocated.
The Medical Examiner's office says 87-year-old Margaret Hutchinson died naturally of positional asphyxia. That happens when a person's body is positioned in a way that prevents them from breathing.
Police believe she fell backwards into the crash can, one of several in her garage, and couldn't get out.
There were no signs of trauma to her body.
