FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) _ Broward County's disgraced former
sheriff is facing 18 to 24 months in prison at a sentencing hearing today.
Ken Jenne pleaded guilty in September to tax evasion and wire fraud conspiracy for accepting thousands of dollars in hidden payments and favors while sheriff. He resigned September fourth after a nine-year tenure as sheriff.
Prosecutors recommend two years in federal prison for Jenne. His defense attorneys say a reduced sentence, even no prison time, would be appropriate.
Jenne is also a former Democratic state senator and was once considered a contender for governor.
