ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) _ A mother who criticized an Orlando private school on her blog is being sued for defamation.
The New School of Orlando says Sonjia McSween was making false
statements about the school and caused a drop in enrollment. They want her to stop talking about the school and pay damages.
The lawsuit says McSween posted libelous remarks alleging that students were belittled, exposed to "extreme stress'' and "dictatorial conditions.''
Among other things, she also alleged that the school told parents how to run their homes and threatened them for speaking negatively about the school.
McSween says she didn't create the Web site out of malice, but rather out of disappointment about her experience. She plans to speak to a lawyer soon.
