TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ A state report says reported hate crimes in Florida dropped by one case from last year.
The report says Florida had 259 reported cases in 2006, one less than the previous year. Meanwhile, the nation saw an eight percent increase.
The report was compiled by Attorney General Bill McCollum's office. It shows the state's cases peaked at 395 in 1992 and bottomed out at 160 in 1997.
Most of Florida's cases last year were motivated by race; less than 20 percent were motivated by sexual orientation.
