Pet Clinic-Robbery

PHOENIX (AP) _ Authorities in Phoenix say a man who attempted to
rob a veterinary clinic is in police custody.

Officials say they found the man (Anthony Basile) in the attic
of the clinic and arrested him after a six-hour standoff. Police
say the 19-year old briefly held five employees at gunpoint and
demanded drugs and money, before several of them escaped. He
released the other employees once police arrived.

While in the building, the suspect is said to have released a
number of animals. Officers found several dogs walking around
frightened.

The man is expected to face charges including armed robbery,
kidnapping, drug possession and animal cruelty.
