GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ University of Florida students rushed
the stage, yelled and turned their backs today during a speech made
by former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
About 730 students heard Gonzales defend his career as White
House counsel and head of the Justice Department.
Gonzales' appearance was the first at the university by a
high-profile individual since a UF student was Tasered in September
at a speech by Senator John Kerry. After an investigation, the
University of Florida police were found to have acted appropriately
and the charges were dropped against the student.
Two people wearing hoods climbed on the stage during Gonzales'
speech and were quickly lead off by police without incident.
