ACWORTH, Ga. (AP) _ Cobb County District Attorney Pat Head says a Juvenile Court hearing must be set to determine how to proceed against three young boys accused of raping an eleven-year-old playmate.
The boys, one eight and two nine, were being held yesterday in a detention center. Acworth police Captain Wayne Dennard says the girl told authorities she was attacked Thursday in a wooded area near an apartment complex. The girl's mother reported it to authorities Sunday.
Dennard said the girl said the children were playing outdoors and she was forced into the woods, where one of the boys raped her.
The boys appeared in juvenile court yesterday afternoon. Their names were withheld because of their age.
Head said the boys cannot be charged with felony crimes because of their age. He said they can be tried for alleged delinquent acts that could place them in a juvenile facility for up to five years.
