Teen Brings Loaded Gun to School

FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) _ A 16-year-old Fort Pierce boy was arrested for bringing a loaded gun to school.

The student, who is not being named because he is a minor, told authorities yesterday he didn't know the gun was in his jacket pocket.

Authorities went to Fort Pierce Westwood High School to investigate after receiving an anonymous tip. The 10th grader told deputies the gun belongs to a family member.

Authorities also recovered ammunition in a plastic bag.

The student was charged with possession of a firearm on school property and taken to the St. Lucie Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
