MIAMI (AP) _ The Miami-Dade School Board voted to admit liability in the case of teen fatally stabbed by a classmate in a middle school bathroom in 2004.
The unanimous vote came two weeks after Jaime Gough's family sued the district, claiming it withheld public records relating to the case.
Jaime's father also claimed the district was not helping the family get a claims bill passed in the Florida Legislature to get the rest of $1.7 million dollar settlement reached in 2005. The Goughs have received only $200,000 from the district and $500,000 from its insurance company.
The teen accused of stabbing Jaime Gough faces a mandatory life prison sentence if convicted as an adult of first-degree murder.
