BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) _ Officers seized 22 dogs and one cat from the home of a 70-year-old woman.
Police say the home was unsanitary, but the owner, Marta Pejouhy, says she was just trying to save the animals from euthanasia at the county's animal shelter.
Officers searched the home yesterday after receiving complaints from neighbors about barking dogs. It's the third time in seven years that Boynton Beach Animal Control has removed dogs from the home.
Pejouhy says she was unfairly targeted. She says some of the dogs were hers; others had been brought to her by people who could no longer care for them.
She was not charged with a crime. Authorities said the animals were in good health.
