Police Officer Receives Letter About His Missing Wife

CHICAGO (AP) _ A former suburban Chicago police sergeant who's
suspected in his wife's disappearance has received a letter
describing a sighting of his wife elsewhere in Illinois. Drew
Peterson's lawyer says his client hopes the unsigned letter will
lead authorities to Stacy Peterson, who vanished three weeks ago.

Since then, authorities have said they believe the death of Drew
Peterson's former wife was a homicide staged to look like an
accidental bathtub drowning. Peterson hasn't been named as a
suspect in that case.

A close friend of Stacy Peterson's family is skeptical about the
unsigned letter. She says the family has received "tons of
letters'' from people claiming to know the missing woman's
whereabouts.
