Georgia Man Suspect in Dentist Slaying

NEW YORK (AP) _ The suspect in the New York City playground killing of a dentist gunned down in front of his five-year-old daughter says he has "NO clue'' about the death.

Mikhail Mallayev is in the DeKalb County Jail while officials await court orders to send him to New York to face a second-degree murder charge. He was arrested Tuesday and spoke Wednesday to the New York Post and the Daily News.

Mallayev, who lives in the Atlanta suburb of Chamblee, said it was ridiculous that he would be accused of the October 28th killing of Doctor Daniel Malakov. The suspect's wife is related to Malakov's ex-wife, who lost an acrimonious child custody battle to her orthodontist husband days before his death.

Police say they found Mallayev's fingerprints on a tape-covered bleach bottle they believe served as a makeshift gun silencer left at the scene. Mallayev told the newspapers he had NO idea how his fingerprints could have turned up on the device.

Malakov's relatives have accused his ex-wife, Doctor Mazoltuv Borukhova, of orchestrating the killing, but she has disavowed any connection to it. Her lawyer, Stephen Scaring, repeated yesterday that his client denied "any involvement'' in the crime.
