TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ The holiday shopping spree starts with
an enthusiastic rush across Florida.
In Tallahassee, some very motivated shoppers actually started
lining up at Best Buy on Thanksgiving Eve to make sure they'd be
among the first to stream through the doors early this morning.
Widescreen TV's were at the top of many shopping lists. Randy
Bartley said he dragged himself out of bed at 3 a.m. so he could
capitalize on some of the best deals. He ended up with a 37-inch
LCD television that was marked down about $100.
Other folks vowed to shop till they dropped. One shopper wore a
"Black Friday'' T-shirt to help her get in the holiday buying
spirit. She also grabbed an LCD TV off the shelf as a Christmas
surprise for her husband.
Holiday sales are projected to be a little slower this year, but
the Florida Retail Federation still expects the season to post a
three percent increase over last year.
