MALIBU, Calif. (AP) _ Authorities estimate they now have the Malibu wildfire 25 percent contained.
With encouragement from the Santa Ana winds, the 7-square-mile fire has burned through an estimated 35 homes and forced as many as 14,000 people to flee.
At least six firefighters have been hurt, one moderately.
The winds have died down, but officials are still wary.
Fifteen helicopters and 15 airplanes, including a DC-10 jumbo jet, are trying to douse the flames from the air while 1,700 firefighters battle on the ground.
Another fire in San Diego County near the town of Ramona is 40 percent contained after burning 50 acres.
