ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Authorities are trying to determine which Orange County Sheriff's deputy fired the shot that killed a man in a stolen car.
The sheriff's office says deputy sergeants Luis Tabio and Jeff Freeman were involved in Monday night's fatal shooting, but it is not clear who did the firing.
A preliminary investigation shows that shots were fired after James Martin tried to ram the stolen car into both deputies and their cruiser. Martin then drove off but crashed through some gates and slammed into a palm tree. He died at the scene.
The stolen car belonged to Martin's father.
The deputies were not injured. They will have to take on administrative duties while the investigation continues.
