ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Mideast peace conference in Annapolis, Maryland, is drawing its share of demonstrators. More than 100 activists rallied outside the gates of the U.S. Naval Academy today, while world leaders and diplomats worked inside.
One protester was dressed in a costume mocking Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Another says she's hopeful this session will lead to future peace negotiations.
Maryland state troopers, local police and others were standing by to ensure orderly protests. At one point, rival groups did get into a shouting match, but that ended quickly and the groups went their separate ways.
