MIAMI (AP) — Authorities have arrested two Haitian citizens in Miami, one of whom is wanted in the Bahamas for his part in a 2007 murder.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Broward Sheriff's Office arrested 35-year-old David St. Remy and 27-year-old Kervin Occean Tuesday. A federal criminal complaint says the men were charged with illegally re-entering the country after being deported for aggravated felonies. St. Remy is on the Bahamas nine "most wanted" list for the 2007 murder.
Records show that both men appeared in court Wednesday. They each face a maximum of 20 years in prison.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Russell Koonin says St. Remy and Occean will be tried on their federal criminal charges before being turned over to immigration authorities for possible deportation.
