Baby Found in Trash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Police are searching for the mother of a newborn baby who was found in a trash bin at a Jacksonville apartment complex.

Sheriff's investigators are questioning residents at the Beachwood Apartment complex to try to locate the mother.

Meanwhile, the infant girl is being treated for dehydration at the hospital and is expected to recover. Authorities say the baby was only hours old and still had her umbilical cord attached when she was found.

Florida has a safe haven law that allows parents to leave unwanted newborns at any hospital or fire station.

This is just sad, I can't imagine ever doing something like this to any child. This is so terrible.
