Jellyfish Sting New Smyrna Beach Beachgoers

Jellyfish are back at New Smyrna Beach this weekend.

Hundreds of beachgoers have been stung by the jellyfish.

Beach Patrol Captain Tony Sopotnick says every guard had to ask for a vinegar restock.

A 16-year-old girl was taken to Bert Fish Medical Center after
she went into anaphylactic shock from a sting. But no one else was
seriously injured by the jellyfish.

Sopotnick says the jellyfish are confined to the New Smyrna
Beach area.

He says the Beach Patrol would contact researchers this week to
definitively identify the jellyfish.
