Six Rescued After Boat Strikes Jetty in Mayport

The U.S. Coast Guard says six people were rescued from the St. Johns River when their boat hit some rocky jetties.

The Coast Guard says the 25-foot Bayliner broke off from its anchor line and struck the jetties yesterday afternoon at Mayport.

Coast Guard spokesman Donnie Brzuska says the boat ran aground and 45-year-old passenger Terry Loman was pinned against the rocks.

Passing boaters picked up the remaining occupants, which included three children.

Brzuska says Loman was in stable condition at a hospital and other passengers had scrapes and bruises.
