JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A Jacksonville man has been convicted
of murdering his girlfriend and then keeping her child in his house for days.
A jury found 52-year-old Calvin R. Simpson guilty on Friday of second-degree murder. He faces up to life in prison.
Prosecutors say Simpson killed 31-year-old Tyronnie Lynne Dennis
in front of her 3-year-old child in 2008. He then stayed with the
child and the decaying body for days.
Police were responding to a missing persons report when they smelled the body.
Simpson is scheduled to be sentenced the week of June 21.
