DANIA BEACH, Fla. (AP) --
Broward County authorities say the pilot of a small plane and his passenger walked away from a crash landing in South Florida.
The single-engine Cessna 172 that 59-year-old Robertus Schrama
was piloting reportedly lost power near the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on Tuesday night. According to a news release, Schrama contacted the control tower and then landed in a field near the airport.
Schrama and his passenger, 53-year-old Joan Phillips, had
departed from New Orleans earlier that day. After the crash, they
were both taken to a local South Florida hospital with injuries
that weren't considered to be life threatening.
