ATLANTA (AP) -- Metro Atlanta's public transit system plans to
hold a series of public hearings to get input on its proposed
budget.
The hearings on Monday and Tuesday evenings will seek comment
from the community on the operating and capital budget for fiscal
year 2011 for the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, or MARTA.
The proposed budget includes a net operating budget of about
$390 million and a total capital budget of about $321 million.
MARTA said in a statement that the budget proposal was
influenced in part by the "Transportation Investment Act of 2010"
which was signed Wednesday by Gov. Sonny Perdue. The legislation
gives MARTA more flexibility to spend its reserve money on new
projects.
