Tim Curzan took his dogs Joe and Nali out on their usual daily walk. He was strolling along in a neighborhood close to his home when he made an unusual discovery.
"We were on our way home and we found the pants," said Curzan.
Normally if you see an old pair of jeans lying in a gutter you wouldn't think much of it. But his dog, Joe, started investigating the find and out came a lighter.
"I really didn't have much of a reaction at all other than I got a free lighter out of it. That was my lucky day," Curzan said.
It was also a lucky day for the owner of the pants. he told police he woke up in a neighbors lawn with his pants off. He had no idea where they were.
He also told police about the cashiers check for 41-thousand dollars for his son and 360 dollars in cash.
"I went to see what else was in the pockets and that's where I saw the soaked wad of paper and the money was in it," said Curzan.
He turned the money over to police and they returned it to the rightful owner.
"I had to return it. I didn't know if I'd be hurting an honest working man."
